When I Count My Blessings, I Count You Twice
As I count down the remaining 3 days until your birthday, I love to reminisce on how the past 8 years with you have completely transformed my life. Becoming your mom has been my biggest blessing and I am so happy that God saw fit to bless me with this responsibility. When I count my blessings, I count you twice. One for being my child and one for helping me become a better human being through motherhood. As I practice gratitude and thanks, I want to thank you for all of the things that you have done to bless me beyond belief!
THANK YOU for being the most amazing child in the world. You're brilliant! The smartest, coolest, dopest child I know! As a mom, you have taught me to let a child mold into who they need to be not who I want them to be.
THANK YOU for giving me the motivation to go above and beyond. I can't afford to be average when I have an offspring like you. As a mommy, you have taught me to make no excuses. There is always a way when you have a baby in need of resources that you need to provide.
THANK YOU for being honest and telling me everything even when I don't want to hear it (Ex: your secrets; How you think my favorite shirt is super ugly; or when you say my hair looks like a grandma when I curl it). As a mother, you have taught me that I don’t have to care what others think. I only have one life and I can focus on what makes me happy.
THANK YOU for being a pure and kind soul despite the bullies you encounter. You always turn the other cheek. As a mama bear, you have taught me that not everything needs a fight, and that hurt people, hurt people. I can put my fists down and move on when I run into the bullies.
THANK YOU for always making me laugh. Your humor and sarcasm are out of this world! You fill my heart with so much joy! As a mama, you have taught me to smile. Smiling and having fun with you can cure any dark day.
And, most of all…. THANK YOU for being you! You as my heart in human form is enough to change the world! You are uniquely and wonderfully made. Never forget that. You are going to make mistakes, and that’s okay. You are going to go through hard times, and that’s okay. You are going to experience difficult people, and that’s okay. God will be there for you and I will be there for you always!
I love you forever. I like you for always. As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.
